Theatre program auditions

Follow the theatre audition steps below for Fall 2024 theatre auditions.

Step 1: Apply for admission to the 鶹ýAV Theatre Diploma program

When you apply to 鶹ýAV, you will receive a notification about your application. Please follow the instructions carefully regarding transcripts or any other items you may need to submit, as you will not be able to audition without meeting the college entrance requirements. Once you have confirmed that this step of the process is complete, move on to step two.

Step 2: Prepare for your audition and submit your audition documents

Once you have met all of the college entrance requirements, you will receive an email notification from performingarts@douglascollege.ca inviting you to audition.

Our next in-person audition date is:

Saturday 25 May 2024 at 11:00AM

Friday 21 June 2024 at 10:00AM

If you are located outside of Metro Vancouver, auditions can be done online via Zoom.

Audition Documents 

Prior to your audition, you are required to submit the following: 

  • Resume outlining your theatrical experience. Your resume should include a list of all productions you have been involved in as well as any theatre classes you have taken, including both secondary school and theatre programs (i.e. Arts Umbrella).   
  • A recent photograph  
  • A written response of no more than 300 words to the question “Why do I want to study theatre?”.

Audition Details [Audition Day]

Auditions for the 2024/2025 academic year will be held at 鶹ýAV in New Westminster, BC.

The audition includes both an individual audition and a group workshop.  

  1. The individual audition includes two monologues, a 30-second performance of a song, and a short interview. Applicants are asked to choose and prepare a 90-second monologue from a published play as well as one piece from this selection of four monologues.  
  2. The group workshop takes place before the individual auditions and includes other applicants in a workshop focused on acting and movement.
